Pullip Dolls Empty
PostSubject: Re: Pullip Dolls   Pullip Dolls EmptyTue Jul 12, 2011 12:52 am

Lately I've had Pullips on my mind. When I went to my first AN convention in 2006 I came very close to buying a Pullip Cornice ( http://www.junplanningusa.com/products/pullip/2006/F-548Cornice ). It ended up that I decided I wasn't willing to spend that much money for a doll (oh, how that's changed!) but I did get the chance to ask the person who did end up buying the Cornice if I could see her up close. I got into resin bjds and aside from the little keychain sized Pullip Noir ( http://www.eluts.com/shop/step1.php?number=536 ) I got for really cheap second hand at Doll North a couple of years later, I never really thought about getting one again. I came across the Rosen Maiden Pullips one day a year or two ago and thought they're were cool but the one's I wanted were crazy expensive, eek! When I was in Tottori last summer I came across a shop that sold a few special edition Pullips but they were $200-$300 so I passed. Didn't then much about them again until I saw a vendor selling some at Animaritime a couple of weeks ago. That sparked me interest enought to look online, which of course mesnt that I would find a crazy expensive limited edition that I'd fall in love, yes of course it would haha, oy..

This girl is soooo awesome!! I wish I could find her for a decent price but right now $250 is the lowest price I've seen. She's a Pullip Yuki from the j-movie Gothic & Lolita Psycho. There are two versions of 300 each, one version is brown eyed with slightly different hair (movie version of the actress), the other is modelled after the poster where she has one brown eye + one red eye.

I'd be happy to have either version, but since I'm not willing to spend the money I guess that won't happen haha.

Anyways, while checking out the Luts section of Pullip items, I noticed that they sell a pullip picture book (I'm a sucker for doll books haha) I decided that I'd like to get it someday. Then while peeking though ebay I noticed that Pullip Bonita comes with a free copy of the book (which would cost $44 + shipping separately) probably because she's the doll model on the cover of it. She's really adorable, and although Yuki is my favourite, Bonita has a great eyeshape and make-up so if I really wanted to I could change her hair & clothes to look more like yuki ..but Bonita is really cute so I'd just probably enjoy her as is.

Pullip Dolls Bonita1

I don't know Ive gotta think about it pretty hard for a while, cuz it'd probably just sit on a shelf like my begoths and LDdoll because I'd tend to be nervous to change wigs and clothes much incase the vinyl got stained..

Does anyone else here have Pullips or thought of owning one before? Which ones are your favourites?

I get Jun Planning dolls from this site:
http://pullipstyle.com/

I really like using them. Fast shipping and reliable. I got my Taeyang from him and my Little Dal and I think my Dal Melize and Edge both.

I want to get a Pullip at some point but I'm waiting for the right one. The one I really wanted back in the day is now impossible to find so I won't be getting her.

My J-Doll and Pullip share the same body.

Oh man, thank you for that link!! Their prices are better than ebay or Luts and they have a lot in stock Smile
They have both Bonita AND Yuki in stock! But know I'm thinking that maybe I like the face-ups on NeoNoir, Jaldet (although I really just don't get the whole mertail thing..), and Principessa.

Although I think that the original Noir is my absolute favorite ..and of course hard to get apparently, gah. I think she'd would be crazy adorable though holding my little keychain size version of Noir, heehee

Today I joined the Derpy Market forum ( http://forums.dollymarket.net/index.php ), I'm still waiting for my membership approval email thing to show up. BUT once I'm able to post and have marketplace access I'm excited to see what dolls are available second hand! I saw them talking about bodies being $8-$10 and heads $30-$60, such low prices, haha.

The newness of it all is really exciting, trying to figure out the lingo and stuff. I think I'm definitely gonna get one second hand someday (I have a favourites list already, oy), some of them remind me of Kara (my old des) a little bit ..but much less expensive haha!!

Soooo, j-dolls & pullips have the same body?? I guess that makes sense since they're from the same company.

Oh, for anyone who's interested, here are some of the Rozen Maiden pullips:

Yup it's the exact same body but Pullip has a giant head and J-Doll looks more like a classic fashion doll. She also has glass eyes and they're pretty.

I took body comparison shots. I don't have a Pullip yet but I wanted to compare bodies on the fashion dolls. I find photos like this really helpful when trying to understand their bodies/size, especially before you get one.

PostSubject: Re: Pullip Dolls   Pullip Dolls EmptyFri Jul 15, 2011 6:04 pm

Ok this is so weird. After looking at this thread last night I went to the Pullip Style website and looked at the dolls, seeing if there was one I really wanted. And ultimately I just mumbled "I really just want Latte".

She's a rare doll that came out in 2006. She was my first introduction to these types of dolls (well more or less) and at the time I just couldn't afford to spend $80 on a doll (oh how funny that is now).

This afternoon out of the blue someone messages me on Flickr. She'd seen that I had a picture of Latte in a set called "Wishlist". Her friend is having money problems and selling this very doll and she wants to know if I'm interested. Long story short I just paid for her! HA! I can't even believe it. I'm very happy. This is the stock image of the doll in question.

She has cool eyes, congrats on snatching a wishlist doll!

Wow, their bodies are shorter than I thought! I thought that they were pretty much the same size as barbie but I guess not. Thanks for the reference pic Smile

Their enormous heads throw you off. She's super tall because of her head.

AH! I know. I am wondering if I should buy Fantastic Alice. That was the doll that started it all. Someone knew I loved Alice in Wonderland stuff and showed me that Pullip. I ended up finding Latte and liking her more but Fantastic Alice was my introduction to Pullips (that eventually led to my discovery of Blythe, Dal, then BJDs and Fashion Royalty). So really that doll was the catalyst for my collecting. Sounds like maybe I should get her... Wink

Pullip Dolls PA7060260

After receiving my first Pullip(s), and brand new at that, I felt like a noob review was in order, lol..

~First of all, I love the detailing put into the esthetic of the box. I mean, come on, it's just a box, but still it's a very pretty box. Even the cameo patterned backdrops were done in different colours to match each box.

~Love that they not only come with doll stands, but pretty doll stands at that!

~Noir came with everything I expected, but Seila came with like a billion extra props/accessories!

~Packaging was insane, I understand the need to twist-tie, bind, tape, stitch everything in place for the sake of those intense collectors who'll never even dream of removing their dolls from the box, but come on, seriously.. and the plastic binding Noir's head to the box actually messed up her wig by causing a perminant kink in once of her locks of hair.

~Again with the overpacking.. underneath the dolls clothing, their arms/hands, torso, and legs/feet are wraped in clear plastic. In order to even get the shoes on, you first have to undress the doll, carefully cut and peel away the plastic (the plastic was so tightly wrapped that it was difficult to remove and I accidentally left a few scratch marks on the vinyl knee, luckily out of sight), then re-dress the doll. I only ended up removing a portion of the plastic wrap before giving up, lol. I realized that they most likely do this to prevent staining (like with dollfie dreams), however that doesn't make it any less annoying haha.

~Being a noob to Pullip dolls, I was completely surprised (and slightly creeped out) when I discovered the buttons and knob on the back of their head ..and what happens when you use said devices, haha.

Yay you got your dolls.

Yes the plastic on their legs is to prevent staining. I'm surprised you had to cut them off, I always just pull it off. Smile

They are definitely bolted into their cardboard prisons but good! At least they're not like Barbie and don't have one of those plastic things embedded into their head and the box. *shudders*

Tee hee about the knobs on the back. Definitely allows for more expressive photos! Smile Enjoy your Pullips!
